St Pier sings for AIDS benefit; takes hiatus
Even as she prepared to take a break from her music career, Canadian songstress Natasha St Pier couldn't say no to performing in Monaco. Not when the request came directly from royalty.

"I was pleased by that," St Pier said of being selected by Princess Stephanie to be one of just a handful of guest performers in the  Roi Soleil concert (Feb 22, 2007). So excited was the New Brunswick-born French pop chart topper to do her part to help raise funds for the princess' charity Fight AIDS Monaco, that she  pushed backed plans to quit the stage.

"It's been five years of not living enough," said St Pier of her life of non-stop recording and touring since she made a big splash on the stage in Luc Plamondon's hit musical Notre Dame de Paris and followed with five albums. Now she's ready for a retreat from the spotlight to concentrate on "living", and on writing new music. "I want to take the time to do something sincere, something honest I can be proud of," she said.
