Prince Albert of Monaco and Forum Organizers
Authors, those lonely figures who interact mostly with their keyboards day after day until something worth publishing is produced, came out of their lairs to mingle with the people who bring their characters to life, at the International Forum of Cinema and Literature in Monaco  (April 12 to 14, 2007). Forum director Hans-Stephan Kreidel, for instance, was quite proud to point out that  American mystery writer Patricia Macdonald, whose books are so well loved across the big pond that four of them have been made into movies in France, met for the first time the director responsible for these successes. "That's the kind of things that happen here," he beamed.  But the Forum isn't only about past accomplishments. Behind the scenes in this six-year-old event, publishers and agents huddle with producers and book scouts, hoping to tie up the next big deal that will turn a bestseller into a blockbuster.
