Ireland takes the Jumping Grand Prix
Irish eyes were smiling at the end of Le Jumping International de Monte Carlo as Jessica Kurten of the Emerald Isle captured the top spot. Second place went to Dutchman Jeroen Dubbeldam, while two of the British Whitakers, Robert and Michael, took third and fourth places respectively.

Of course the competition is always just half the fun of this major social event that draws the international jet-set to the principality. Heiress Athina Onassis de Miranda, 22, herself an accomplished rider, was on hand to lend support to her husband Álvaro de Miranda. Charlotte Casiraghi seems to have filled in for her mother Princess Caroline, who holds the Presidency of Honour for the event, but did not attend. The fourth in line to the Monaco throne showed up with a special friend in the person of Alex Dellal (grandson of the eponymous British real-estate tycoon), with whom she has been romantically linked. And Prince Albert II arrived on the final day accompanied by South Africa's Charlene Wittstock, who competed as a swimmer in the 2000 Olympics and has appeared at the sovereign's side at several official and private events since they were first photographed together at the 2006 Turin Olympic Winter Games.
