Golden Foot 2008

Brazilian left defender Roberto Carlos picked up the 2008 Golden Foot award (Sep 01), having been named by more than a third of the 105,000 soccer fans who voted as the greatest current player.

Beating out a field that included England's David Beckham and France's Thierry Henry, the former Real Madrid star got to add his footprint to the "Promenade of Champions" along Monaco's Mediterranean shore.

Also making an impression at the event was former French captain Zinedine "Zizou" Zidane, who, along with Luis Suarez, Igor Belanov and Aldair, received recognition for legendary contribution to the sport.
