Position:
US sprinter

Accomplishment: Gold medallist of the 200m race at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City (notable also because Smith and fellow US sprinter, John Carlos, who won bronze, gave a Black Power salute while receiving their medals)

In a nutshell:
"It's going to take work, with a capital 'W'. And you have to be persistent in that work."

"You have to have a vision of what you want to do."

"...you are going to run into painful acts" which are "good to maintain the faith of the individual"
