Are you running too fast to your grave?

It is not speed but direction that counts! People speed through life. They rush, rush, rush! They do not realize that it is not how fast you go that will make a difference, but the direction you are going in. If you watch the highway in the morning, you will see hundreds of cars driving to work. Where is everyone going?

Author Leo Tolstoy shares a story in which someone is told to run as fast as he can, and whatever ground he covers, that land becomes his. So this man sets off early in the morning and starts running as fast as he can. By noon, he is running faster; in the evening even faster; and late at night, he is still keeping the pace. At midnight, the man drops down and dies, buried in the land he has covered while running nonstop. This example is a metaphor for life. We run and run to cover so much ground only to eventually be buried in the ground we covered.

How about you?

Do you let speed dictate your life?

Are you giving with love?

Rumi, the Sufi Master, says, "Your lamp was lit from another lamp." Our success and learning comes with the help of others! Many people have sacrificed their lives to make us who we are! Parents, teachers, mentors. Many of these guides have come from a place of unconditional giving. They may not necessarily enjoy the material or worldly success but true love needs neither!

Osho says that true love is spontaneous. Birds singing in the morning. A cuckoo calling from the distance. Love needs no past or future. When you are full of love, you are empty of jealousy. When you come from a place of giving, you manifest love within. The Sufis say love can make beggars into kings and kings into beggars. Love can transform ordinary stones into rubies. Love is a circle with no end!

How about you?

Are you giving with love?

Are you doing your part for the environment?

DuPont has cut its contribution to global warming by 72 per cent. Half of the cuts came from changing one process, the production of adipic acid. This eliminated emissions of nitrous oxide, a potent greenhouse gas that causes far more warming than carbon dioxide. The company also held flat its energy use, and found one hundred ways to meet its energy targets. Over the past decade, this strategy has saved DuPont $2 billion.

IKEA is proud of its flat packaging which squeezes every millimeter of use out of every box, enabling the company to pack its trains and trucks tighter. The packaging saves up to 15 per cent on fuel cost per item, while also reducing the number of trees cut down.

Xerox saved $2 million over ten years from its waste-saving program, serving the environment as well as their bottom line.

Doing good can be good for business! Unleashing your potential happens when making money is a by-product of doing good!
